Ingredients

For Cake

  • 3 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt

For the caramel sauce:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup water
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven and prepare cake pan.
  • Combine dry ingredients and set aside.
  • Cream butter and sugar, then mix in eggs and vanilla.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and yogurt to wet ingredients.
  • Fold in diced apples.
  • Pour batter into pan and bake.
  • Make caramel sauce while the cake bakes.
  • Cool cake completely and drizzle with caramel sauce.
