For Cake
- 3 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and diced
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
For the caramel sauce:
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup water
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- ½ tsp pure vanilla extract
- ¼ tsp sea salt
Preheat oven and prepare cake pan.
Combine dry ingredients and set aside.
Cream butter and sugar, then mix in eggs and vanilla.
Alternate adding dry ingredients and yogurt to wet ingredients.
Fold in diced apples.
Pour batter into pan and bake.
Make caramel sauce while the cake bakes.
Cool cake completely and drizzle with caramel sauce.
