Ingredient Notes and Variations

  1. White sugar: It provides sweetness and keeps your cake moist. You can use granulated, caster, or raw sugar as an alternative. Adjust the sweetness level according to your need and sugar variation.
  2. Vegetable oil: It adds moisture to the cake and keeps it tender and crumbly. You can use canola, sunflower, or other light oil with neutral flavors instead. Melted butter and coconut oil are also best for an innovative flavor profile.
  3. Dutch dark cocoa powder adds a deep, rich, chocolaty taste and color to the cake. You can use natural cocoa powder for more intense and rich chocolaty flavors.
  4. Plain yogurt: It keeps the cake moist and also adds tanginess to the cake. You can experiment with Greek or regular yogurt for a dense and innovative texture.
  5. Matcha powder: The matcha powder provides the cake with earthy flavors and a beautiful green color. It also infuses the caffeine boost and rich antioxidants. You can use green tea powder as an alternative.
