Ingredient Notes and Variations

  1. Oats: Rolled oats are among the best options for making oatmeal cookies. They provide a hearty and nutty texture. You can use other variations to get a distinctive texture.
  2. All-purpose flour: It provides a base and structure to the cookies. You can use whole wheat flour or gluten-free options to bring a twist.
  3. Raw sugars add a subtle caramel flavor and slight crunch to the cookies. Alternatively, you can use granulated sugar or brown sugar.
  4. Nutmeg: It adds warmth to the cookies. You can use other spices like cinnamon or cloves to make customized cookies.
  5. Maple syrup: Maple syrup brings sweetness and infused flavors to the cookies. You can use maple extract, honey, or agave syrup for a different flavor profile.
