Ingredient Notes and Variations

  1. All-purpose flour: It is a primary ingredient in baking. However, you can make the cake with whole wheat flour or a flour blend.
  2. Sea salt: It enhances the flavors of the other ingredients. You can skip it or add regular salt.
  3. Coconut sugar: It is one of the best alternatives to regular sugar, and it contains the sap of the coconut tree. You can use brown sugar or regular sugar instead.
  4. Coconut oil: It adds a nutty flavor to the cake. You can use vegetable oil, butter, or other oils as an alternative.
  5. Coconut milk is one of the best options to make the cake a dairy-free dessert. However, you can use whole milk or almond milk instead.
