Ingredient Notes and Variations

Instant yeast: It works to raise the dough for perfect baking results. You can use active dry yeast, but proof it in warm liquid before using it in the dough.

Honey: It adds natural sweetness to the dessert. You can use maple syrup or other biological sweetening agents instead.

Brown sugar: The rich molasses-like brown sugar enhances the flavors of the treat. As an alternative, you can use raw sugar.

All-purpose flour: It is the base of any pastry dough. But you can use whole wheat flour for a healthier and more innovative version.

Nutmeg: It adds warm flavors to the bread. You can experiment with cloves or cardamon.

Vegetable oil: It contributes to the moisture and tenderness of the dough. You can use melted butter, olive, or coconut oil for innovation.
