Ingredient Notes and Variations

  1. Cranberries: Frozen cranberries are best to use for this recipe. But you can use fresh berries as well. They will add natural sweetness and tanginess to the dish.
  2. Cornstarch: It is a thickening agent that helps you to make the filling luscious and cohesive. You can use all-purpose flour or other thickening agents for this purpose.
  3. Raw sugar: Less refined sugar gives a molasses-like content to the dessert. As an alternative, you can use granulated sugar or brown sugar.
  4. Whole milk is used to make the dough, and whole milk keeps it moist and rich. You can use coconut milk or almond milk for an innovative taste.
