Ingredient for Air Fryer Fried Rice

You need simple and easily available ingredients to make the fried rice.

Ingredients for Air Fryer Fried Rice
  • Cooked rice
  • Eggs
  • Carrots
  • Peas
  • Bell peppers
  • Green onions
  • Oil
  • Soy sauce
  • Ginger and garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper

Ingredient notes and Variations

Cooked rice: when you are boiling rice for the fried rice, be sure to keep it slightly undercooked as it gets cooked in the vegetables also. To give your recipe a nice twist, try using cauliflower rice. This will also make the dish keto-friendly. You can also use brown rice since it has a higher nutritional value.

Eggs: eggs give a flavorful addition to the fried rice. I also prefer adding a bit of food color to the omelet mixture, which makes the fried rice pop out on the dinner table. If you have to go vegan, you can omit using eggs.

Carrots: finely chopped carrots make the air fryer fried rice crunchy, delicious, and healthy.

Peas: Me and my children love the peas in our fried rice, so it is a must for us. If you don’t like peas, you can try adding green bell peppers or mushrooms. The recipe is open for customization.

Bell peppers: In my recipe, I prefer adding one bell pepper of each color so that the final appearance is as colorful as possible. If you don’t have all three of them, try adding at least red and green bell pepper. Yellow bell pepper can be replaced with corn as well.

Green onions: the stalk of green onions forms a crunchy garnish over the prepared fried rice. Alternatively, you can use a few leaves of coriander too.

Oil: since we are making the rice in an air fryer, only a bit of oil will do the trick. You can use olive, sesame, avocado, or any vegetable oil you prefer.

Soy sauce: A Chinese rice recipe is incomplete without soy sauce. The sauce makes a unique flavor profile with all the vegetables and gives a unique taste. You can use dark soy sauce as well but in lesser than recommended amounts.

Ginger and Garlic powder: when you make the fried rice in a wok on the stove, nothing gives a better and bold flavor than crushed garlic. But in this air fryer recipe, you can use powdered garlic and ginger for additional convenience.

Salt and black pepper: use kosher salt and coarsely ground black pepper as per your taste.
