Ingredients for Air Fryer Baby Potatoes

You’ll need:

  • Potatoes
  • Bread crumbs
  • Olive oil
  • Garlic powder
  • Herbs and spices
  • Salt and black pepper

Ingredient Notes and Variations

Baby Potatoes: The best baby potatoes to air-fry are the Yukon Golds, russet potatoes, or red potatoes. All of them are less waxy and their exterior becomes crisp and golden.

Breadcrumbs: Breadcrumbs make the exterior of the potatoes crunchy and golden. If you are on a gluten-free diet, you can omit using breadcrumbs or use gluten-free ones.

Olive oil: A little bit of olive oil not only infuses the potatoes with the flavor of all the spices but also prevents them from sticking. You can also use sesame oil or vegetable oil.

Garlic powder: Garlic powder has a bold flavor profile and makes the potatoes taste delicious. It also makes the potatoes aromatic and blends well with the flavors of other spices.

Herbs and Spices: ground basil and paprika powder make the best flavor combination for the potatoes. You can also add a bit of cumin powder, oregano, cayenne pepper (for a spicier version), and any other herbs you like.

Salt and black pepper: Use sea salt and black pepper as per your taste.

How to make Air Fryer Baby Potatoes?

Step one: Boiling the potatoes

Wash the potatoes thoroughly so that no dust or lint remains on the exterior.

There is no need to peel the baby potatoes as their skin makes the exterior crisp and golden. Cut each potato into 4 pieces.

Cutting Baby Potatoes

Put the cut potatoes in a medium-sized pan and pour water just enough to cover them. Add a bit of salt and bring them to a boil.

Simmer the potatoes on medium-low heat for 15 to 20 minutes. Do not aim to fully cook the potatoes during boiling or else they will become mushy in the air fryer.

Drain the water and allow the potatoes to cool down a bit before following the next step.

Step two: Air fry the potatoes

Take a small mixing bowl and mix all the herbs, spices and breadcrumbs.

Line the air fryer’s basket with parchment paper.

sprinkle oil and seasoning at baby potatoes before air frying

Place the baby potatoes in the basket in a single layer. Sprinkle half the breadcrumbs and spice mixture over the potatoes and then drizzle some oil olive.

Set the air fryer temperature to 400F and the timer for 14 minutes. Although this cooking time is a mere recommendation. You can cook potatoes until they come to the crispness and golden color of your preference.

Air Fried Baby Potatoes

When the potatoes are cooked, remove them from the air fryer and allow them to cool down for just a few seconds. Serve warm on a serving platter.

The air fryer potatoes taste even more delicious when paired with garlic mayo, cheese sauce, or ranch dressing. You can also serve them as a side with chicken or meat entrees.
